French model 1816 heavy cavalry saber measuring 46 3/4" overall with a plain double fullered blade showing proof marks on the ricasso. The marks on the spine of the blade are difficult to discern but the date " 1831 " is quite clear. Very heavy solid brass hilt with a 3-branch guard. Wire wrapped leather grip. Iron scabbard. CONDITION: blade has a light gray patina. hilt shows light overall wear. Scabbard has a cleaned dark mottled patina and shows no damage. PROVENANCE: From the PMRB Collection. (02-25862/BF). NON-GUN. $300-450.
